Overview
By using Google Maps, you can explore an area from a bird’s eye view, at street level, or even inside the building! Today you will take a trip to the Freedom Tower, also known as One World Trade Center.
Directions
- Click the Apps launcher and then Google Maps.

- Type in One World Trade Center.
- Scroll down in the white navigation box to find some Quick Facts. Click on the image below for a gif on what to do.
- Find something you did not know and write it in your journal.
- Click the Earth box in the lower left corner to see a 3-D perspective.
- Drag the Pegman
from the lower right corner to One World Trade Center.
- Take a walk around the site using the x and arrow. Click here for instructions on how to do that.
- Explore other features on the map as you wish.
- To close, click the x on the tab at the top of the page.
Your Turn
- Now, using your journal (digital or paper) brainstorm some ways in which you can use Google Maps to take a virtual field trip with your class.
- Find something you did not know and write it in your journal.
