Overview
In this activity, you will create a diagram using Google Drawings for an upcoming assignment in your classroom.
Directions
- Go to Google Drive at drive.google.com or you can access your Google Drive by clicking the launcher icon
and then clicking the Google Drive icon
.
- Click the New button
and then click More and click Google Drawings
.
- Name the document by clicking on untitled drawing in the upper left corner.
- Take a minute to familiarize yourself with the toolbar.
- If you’re not sure where to start, click here to follow Google’s guide to using Google Drawings (create a drawing)
- Right click (two fingers on the mousepad) to select background. Then choose your background color. This will apply to the entire page.
- Consider an upcoming lesson and an item which you could diagram. Insert an image of that item. Use Google’s guide to using Google Drawings (Insert images) for assistance.
- Now label your image to make it a diagram. For each label, you will need to create a textbox within a shape. Click here for how-to steps to follow.
- Then, you will need to position each label by clicking and dragging it to the desired location.
- Add an arrow to point from each textbox to the image using the line, arrow, scribble tool.
- Be sure to add a title at the top using a text box!
- You now have a model of a diagram your students can reference in class. Here is a sample diagram made with Google Drawing:
