Gallery Walk

Work with your school’s tech leader team

20 minutes to work/15 minutes for Gallery Walk (following the benchmark meeting)

Directions

A gallery walk is an excellent way to receive feedback on work in progress. During “Planning Week”, you will be given an opportunity to provide professional development to your staff. This will be a great way to show your staff how Chromebooks are not a “$300 pencil.”  In order to get the most out of the limited time with your staff, it is critical to have a plan. As a team, you will create a rough draft schedule for your initial staff training and will have an opportunity to give and receive feedback.

  1. The Reader should read all of the directions out loud before you begin.

  2. The Materials Person should go to the Resource Table and retrieve one piece of chart paper, a marker, and 10-15 post it notes.

  3. The Excavator will go through the workshop website(leecounty.idecorp.com) and your school’s shared folder to search for materials and resources that you want to use.

  4. The Recorder will  be responsible for writing down your school’s ideas for an outline of the first few hours of staff development during planning week.

  5. Individually, think of at least one “a-ha” moment you want your colleagues to have in the planning week PD. Share these ideas with your team.

  6. Before you write anything on the chart paper, think about benchmark lessons, breakout sessions, exploration activities, etc. you would like to provide for your colleagues.  Discuss with your group for 5 minutes.

  7. Using your Tech Leader Planning Tool, create an outline on the chart paper for at least the first few hours of staff training during planning week.(10-15 minutes)

  8. When your school agrees on a rough outline, hang your chart paper on the designated wall of the room.

STOP here until all groups are ready.  If you have time before the benchmark, begin one of the activities in the 6:00 - 6:30 timeframe on our schedule.

  1. Gallery Walk- Following the benchmark on the coaching mindset, each group member will have the opportunity to see the plan of other schools and to give warm and cool feedback. (10 mins)

  2. Refer to the slide at the front of the room for “coaching” suggestions.

  3. At the conclusion of the gallery walk, one member of the group should retrieve your group’s chart paper and discuss the feedback from colleagues.

  4. Make a note of feedback by updating your Tech Leader Plan.  Use the comment feature to make note of the feedback you can incorporate into your plan. (5 mins)
